How to Choose Certain Color Themes for Your Home

When remodeling your home you think about the cabinets, countertops, floors, and trim work then when it is all coming together you realize you need to choose colors for the finishing touches. The final design of your home will really tie your home together and make it comfortable for you, which is why it is important to choose the right color theme for your home. It can be difficult to choose certain color themes during your home remodel, so Luxury Home Solutions (LHS) wanted to share with you easy ways to make the color design process easier.

Start with a Color Wheel: A color wheel is a tool every good designer uses in their design. Choosing analogous (colors next to each other on the color wheel) color schemes with the color wheel is stress-free. You do not have to worry about figuring out which colors complement each other when the wheel tells you.

Rule of Three: This is one of the easiest color design tips that has lasted through all the home trends. You simply limit your color palette to three colors. Start with a color you like and choose two complimentary colors for your home design. The fewer choices will make the decision easy and the design complete.

Largest Pattern: If you already have a large piece of furniture, carpet, or drapes you will put back into a room in your home you are remodeling then start your color theme by choosing a color from this piece. The largest pattern in the room will have a main color to work off of to complete the color theme for that room in your home.

Dark to Light, Vertically: A simple way to choose the colors for a room is to use the Dark to Light, Vertically rule (Shown Above). The name gives away the modest design plan. Simple use darker colors on the ground level with dark floors or rugs. Then transition to medium colors for the walls and eye level of the room. Finish with light colors for the ceiling. This transition from dark to light replicates nature outside our homes and bring that harmony indoors.

60-30-10: This is another tried and true design rule that will work for your home remodel. This color rule works by dividing the colors into three segments of 60, 30, and 10 percent of the room. 60 percent of a central color is for the walls, 30 percent of a secondary color is for the upholstery in the room and 10 percent of an accent color for all the accessories.

Have fun while picking your home colors by using the tips above. Remember to show off your personality and style throughout your home with the right color themes.
